5 Most Awaited Video Game Movies

Here is a list of the 5 most awaited video game movies. Some of them have already been announced while some of the others are still in the development stages.

Super Mario Bros

The recent leak of e-mail messages exchanged between Amy Pascal of Sony Pictures and Avi Arad, the film producer, would suggest that a Super Mario Bros movie might be in the making. The iconic characters from the game from Nintendo have been much loved throughout the world for many years and a full-length movie has a good chance of being a box office hit provided it is well made. There’s been no official announcement from Sony Pictures that there is obviously something afoot.

Ratchet and Clank

The movie is expected to release in 2015 and recounts the adventures of two unlikely heroes as they battle an evil alien with the name of Chairman Drek who set on destroying all the planets located in the Solana Galaxy. The two discover a lethal weapon with the capability of destroying entire planets, they are forced to join hands with the Galaxy Rangers, a bunch of colourful heroes, in order to preserve the Galaxy. During their epic journey, they will imbibe lessons on what friendship and heroism mean and, most importantly, discover their own identities.

Assassin's Creed

The film has been confirmed by the game makers Ubisoft though the release date is not yet known. It will feature a bartender who falls into the clutches of a large corporation and compelled to enter the machine called “The Animus”. The machine compels him to relive his own memories of his ancestors, most of whom have been Assassins, and use his powers to recover artefacts which are both powerful and dangerous. The film will be directed by Justin Kurzel.

Sly Cooper

The movie has been confirmed by Sony Pictures and is slated to release in 2016. It is based on the video games and features an orphaned raccoon Sly Cooper who finds out that he is descended from a long line of ancestors who were all international thieves with outstanding skills. The movie will be written and directed by Kevin Munro and star Ian James Corlett, Matt Olsen, Chris Murphy. The original voice actor is going to be replaced but the characters Bentley and Murray will stay the same.


The movie has been in the works for some years and is now expected to be released in 2016. It features a treasure hunter who goes by the name of Nathan Drake, a descendant of the legendary explorer Sir Francis Drake. He believes that he has located the legendary South American golden city called El Dorado from a golden statue which is under a curse. Things become exciting when a rival treasure hunter decides to join in on the search. The movie is being produced by Avi Arad with Brent O’Connor as the executive producer. The film is directed by Seth Gordon with the screenplay being written by Mark Boal.
